After last weekend, I think that only points for teaching judo should be added as additional ways to achieve points. If you can get a point for sitting in on a 30 minute coaches clinic before a tournament, or points for having your name listed on a piece of paper as the host of a tournament, then you should get points for actually putting time into judo as an instructor day in day out. 1 point for every 10 classes taught. For most brown belts, that would be one point every couple of months for actively teaching classes. Actually studying and practicing judo is a novel idea for points too, but that may just be taking it too far...

As for the points needed for promotion, I stand firm that points, time in grade, and testing are all that should be required to present for promotion. Requiring the names and ranks of all opponents is micro management and is not needed. Especially when you can currently gain points by entering a name as a tournament host. That's pretty weak.
This will drive more people to simply submit their rank directly to the national org. rather than going through the state, which can be done for kyu ranks.

The third part of the proposal, I would move to dismiss from the proposal, as apparently non sanctioned clinics can be counted toward points as long as they are announced.

One change on the awards proposal, I think there should be a collection of 5 or 7 people on a committee to determine awards rather than a body vote.

I think these are good proposals and a step in the right direction. If a coach and club is in good standing, and points are turned in for promotion by a certified coach, then that should be good enough. If someone wants to dispute the fact, then they have the ability to pull up records and investigate it themselves. It shouldn't be the role of the coaches and players to defend themselves on every accomplishment.

I like them, but would add that in section 3, non "Judo" related events might be limited to a certain percentage of points earned to prevent a wrestler or jiujitsu practitioner from earning all points outside of judo.

Sensei Tony (Boy) Mondejar was my judo instructor in the Philippines, he leads by example his good morote throw is undeniable. A good man I am now here in New York and still playing judo. I salute you Sensei Boy as we call him in the Philippines.
